Without knowing that you existed
In 1974, the Benjamin Franklyn Library in Mexico, met Coen among a group of advisers from different disciplines in order to define which representatives of North American culture should bring to Mexico. Among others, came John Cage, Luciano Berio, Cathie Berberian; we brought exhibits from Rauchenbergh, Motherwell, etc.,
The need to establish a projection abroad that breaks with the paradigm of a Mexico seen as a rural country through its artisan, pre-Hispanic, colonial manifestations or as producers of nationalist historical painting. The need to show a vision of an urbanized country, with its own identity.
An exhibition was held in the Library with popular objects and images that were used in sideboards, display cabinets, and display stands of lights, buttons and various products in the Center of Mexico City; Eduardo Terrazas participated and Gustavo Sainz contributed aphorisms related to the environment of these found objects.
